Aaron Simpson is a professional mixed martial artist.



Aaron Michael Simpson was born on July 20, 1974 in Gunnison, Colorado.



Aaron is currently fighting at middleweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship.



Before starting his mixed martial arts career, Aaron was a top-notch wrestler. He
earned four state wrestling championships and compiled a 142-1 record wrestling
for Antelope Union High School in Welton, Arizona.



Aaron went on to wrestle at Arizona State University where he compiled 110 wins
and eared NCAA All-American status in 1996 and 1998. He later became an assistant
wrestling coach at Arizona State for nine years, and at California Polytechnic State
University for one year.



Aaron was part of the transfer of light heavyweight and middleweight fighters in
the WEC to the UFC. He made his debut at UFC Fight Night 18 when he defeated Tim
McKenzie.



Aaron’s second fight was UFC 102 where he fought Ed Herman and won by
technical knockout when Herman went down with a knee injury in the second
round. On January 11, 2010 at UFC Fight Night 20, Aaron defeated Tom Lawlor via
controversial split decision.



Simpson is expected to face Mark Muñoz on November 20, 2010 at UFC 123.
