Lorenzo Alexander is a linebacker for the Washington Redskins.

Lorenzo John Alexander was born on May 31, 1983 in Berkeley, California.

Lorenzo played college football at the University of California Berkeley. He also played in the first ever U.S. Army All-American Bowl game with the California Golden Bears in December 2000. Lorenzo earned honorable mention All-Pac 10 twice while at California, and was given the Brick Muller Award as the team's most valuable defensive lineman after surpassing his career-high in tackles in 2003 with 33 stops.

On April 29, 2005 Lorenzo signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent. He went on to sign with the Washington Redskins practice squad on October 3, 2006. Lorenzo is noted for being a versatile player in the NFL. His first three seasons were mostly spent playing on special teams and as a reserve interior defensive lineman, but he has also played at the guard and tight end positions on offense.

Now in his fourth NFL season, Lorenzo is playing as an outside linebacker for the Redskins' and has been getting great reviews from coaches. Lorenzo's shining moment this 2010 season was a hit he delivered on Philadelphia Eagles' kickoff returner Jorrick Calvin on October 3rd. Mike Shanahan called it "one of the best hits [he's] been around since [he's] been in the NFL." The Redskins won this game with a 17-12 victory, and after Lorenzo's hit, Calvin had to leave the game due to injury.

Off the field, Lorenzo is a dedicated philanthropist and has continually been one of the most involved players with the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation. He was also one of 89 NFL players whose foundation was awarded a grant from NFL Charities after being recognized for its work during the 2008 season.

On October 3, 2010 Lorenzo delivered a hit on Philadelphia Eagles kickoff returner Jorrick Calvin in the Redskins' 17-12 win that prompted head coach Mike Shanahan to call it "one of the best hits I've been around since I've been in the NFL." Later in the season, Shanahan called Lorenzo the best special teams player he'd been around.
