Born on May 2, 1985, William Quintin Hayes is a native of High Point, North Carolina. William is a 2003 graduate of High Point Andrews High School where he was a member of the Raiders' Mid State 2A Conference Championship team in 2003
William played college football for Winston-Salem State University. William was the school's second All-American since the Rams moved to the Football Championship Subdivision from the Division II level in 2006. He also set a school record while leading the FCS ranks with two touchdowns on four fumble recoveries. His senior year William appeared in 11 games for the Rams with 11 starts, and ranked second on the team with a recorded 78 tackles.
William was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. In his rookie season he made 13 tackles and one sack as a reserve defensive end. In 2009 William registered career-highs with 82 tackles, four sacks, 23 quarterback pressures, five tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.
William started at defensive end for his first full season in 2010 with the Titans. He is known for having a low center of gravity, natural pass rush instincts and incredible closing speed.
