Zack Follett is a linebacker in the NFL and currently a free agent.
Zachary Follett was born on July 3, 1987, in Clovis, California.
Zack was one of the hardest hitting linebackers in the Pac-10 during his career at the University of California Berkeley. As Defensive Captain during his senior season, Zack led the nation in tackles for a loss, with 23. His 13 career forced fumbles set a school record and tied the tied the Pac-10 Conference record. Zack finished fifth at California in stops behind the line of scrimmage with 51.0. In his final game with the Golden Beats at the Emerald Bowl in 2008, Zack's Defensive MVP performance brought his team to a 24-17 victory over the Miami Hurricanes.
Zack was drafted 235th overall in the 7th round by the Detroit Lions in the 2009 NFL Draft. He was signed to the team's practice squad and then activated to help on special teams. He made his NFL debut against the Pittsburgh Steelers and his first NFL tackle was on St. Louis Ram, Danny Amendola (named hit of the week by NFL Network).
As a rookie, Zack was a key contributor on special teams cover units while serving as a backup linebacker. He played in 12 games and recorded two tackles and eight special teams tackles. Zack was one of the Lions' young ,up-and-coming defensive players, so it was very unfortunate when he experienced a season-ending injury on October 17, 2010.
While he may be a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks, Zack has some off the field hobbies that might surprise you. Zack will spend hours in front of his salt-water fish tank and he's also a big fan of Bonsai Trees and a master on the saw. Zack creates wood cutouts of his teammates and takes the idea of Fatheads to a whole new level. Zack is also a dedicated Christian and is blessed for all the great things in his life.
On August 2, 2011, the Lions released Zack; soon after he joined the broadcast team in London for Sunday Night Football on Channel 4. He was also in England for a brief visit to preach as part of a Christian mission and to work with youth and publicize American Football.
